Japanese news paper indicated “community is heartlessness” when “kodokushi” occurred in my neighborhood in June, last year. I doubted that they had indication. I couldn’t understand what was their standard. I thought that the indication was judged from only some reasons while our sense of values diversifies and our community subdivides. I made two persons meet forcibly in my work series “ties”, and I focused how two parson found policy that each other built the relations. [ kodokushi ]is directly translated in English, “lonely death” . The phenomenon “kodokushi” is growing in Japan. Because mainly the person of the single life isolated from society or community, that one dies without being nursed to anyone. And nobody can notice the dead body.

2013年6月に近隣で起きた「孤独死」の事件について、メディアなどから「コミュニティの希薄化」という言葉を耳にした。私はその指摘に疑問を抱いた。どの視点を基準にして希薄であると指摘しているのかわからなかったからだ。それは価値観が多様化しコミュニティが細分化している中で、一部の理由だけで判断しているように思えた。この作品シリーズ「ties」で私は無理やり2人を対峙させ、互いにどう関わっていくのかを捉え、2人がコミュニティを形成させるための意図（ポリシー）を探求した。
